Muay Thai boxing is the ancient martial art form of Thailand. Also called the “Science of Eight Limbs”, this can be a brutal sport involving punches, kicks, knees and elbows. So getting properly trained under the supervision of an experienced and certified professional instructor is essential for learning Muay Thai. In order to provide properly structured training, it is important to improve the fitness standards of the students.

The prime objective of Muay Thai boxing fitness is to develop the strength and stamina required to perform the arduous and lethal Muay Thai techniques. These fitness standards involve fitness drills, stretching, abdominal exercises, building up shoulders and strengthening leg and calf muscles. These exercises can be performed at the beginning of the class as a warm up and also during the class to build fitness. A participant will build up to perform 50-100 sit-ups, 50-100 push-ups, chin-ups, 100 knees, 100 kicks and also drills on the bag.

The Studio 2000 alternative fitness academy also appreciates not every student wants to become a Muay Thai fighter, this is why we have developed the fitness and conditioning of Muay Thai into a alternative fitness programme for all students of any age or fitness level.

There are varied categories of Muay Thai boxing fitness standards. The speedball or punching ball is used to build the shoulder muscles endurance. For strengthening of leg and calf muscles and developing balance, bodyweight squats and calf raises are performed. Toughness and strength of the abdominal muscles can be achieved by sit up's, leg raises and the many other core exercises used at the studio. Participants can even undertake certain body and free weight training routines to build their muscles as their fitness and strength builds.

The academy also provides nutritional advice for those who would like to change their diets and life styles, we do not promote starvation diets or fad pills of any form, just good solid advice based on what works not what makes money!!
