RUMOUR. Thai Boxers kick trees.
FACT. This is rubbish, I have never been attacked by a tree in my life.
RUMOUR. Thai Boxing gives you bone cancer.
FACT. I am now 40+ years young and in the best shape of my life.
RUMOUR. Thai Boxers knee and elbow each other in the head.
FACT. Even though these are legal techniques in the ring they are NOT allowed in training. You might get the odd bruise but that is it.
RUMOUR. Women can't do Thai Boxing.
FACT. I have lots of women students and in today's violent society it is even more important for women to be able to defend themselves. The techniques of Muay Thai are simple to use whether your wearing a short skirt or have long nails, you should still be able to use Muay Thai to defend yourself.
MYTH. Muay Thai is all about fighting.
FACT. This is completely false. It is a shame that some should consider there is only one need for the weapons of Muay Thai, and that is to use them for self defence or to fight competitively. When there are major health and psychological benefits to be gained from the Art of Muay Thai. There is no need to fight or compete, as you can simply reap the same fitness benefits this great art provides to all it's students.
